Dear Raymonde! Welcome back from China! I am very curious to

see all the photographs you have made during your two-week stay... Do

you feel that your residency allowed you to produce a body of work, or

at least a base that will become a new exhibition project in the future?

Can you speak a little bit about how you regard these images and what

form they might take as a finished body of work?

Thanks in advance,

Eduardo

Hello Eduardo,

I have been back for 2 weeks now and each time I go back to my Beijing

images I feel a bit nostalgic. Days went by very quickly. I took over 1500

images, mostly exploring and responding to what I saw, which is to say that

I have been barely scratching the surface.

Right now of course I need to put the images in perspective. What I am

sending today is taken from my digital images. I also shot in 6 x 7 (colour

and B&W) and I am having the films processed right now. Also, I shot around a

hundred short videos with my digital camera. They are very rough and noisy,

quite amateurish... but I feel that they represent well the action and energy

that I was immersed into... And from these videos, I¿d like to excerpt some

stills and look at them altogether with the photos.

I also spent some time at the flea market looking at found images from the

80s or 90s. I brought back some images that I would have liked to have taken

myself !! Like that one showing a group of people bathing on a summer day¿

So you see, I started a vast operation and it is too early to say what will

come out of it. I would certainly like to go back.

And, I will have more to show you in the next week or so...

Cheers,

Raymonde
